Running a ballroom competition is a lot of work, and this year, we need your help more than ever to make Southeastern a success. If you live in Atlanta or will be attending Southeastern as a competitor or a spectator, please consider helping us make it an amazing experience for everyone attending.
We are looking for volunteers in the following roles:
- Registrar Assistant: Helps the registration staff run the front desk - hand out and assemble packets, answer questions, collect waivers, check in competitors, etc. Volunteers will also sell spectator tickets and collect payments. This is a very social position
- Ticket Takers/Greeters: Greet competitors and spectators and ask to see either a competitor’s badge or spectator ticket. The folks in these positions need to be friendly and helpful but firm.
- On-Deck Assistants: Work hand in hand with the Deck Captain, in organizing the deck area, calling the heats, lining everyone up, making sure everyone has checked in, etc. This is a very active, on your feet position, but with a great view to watch the floor.
- Set-up Team: Assists in setting up all rooms before the competition. This includes setting up signs, dressing rooms, and the front desk, assembling the photo backdrop, hauling boxes, unloading the storage unit, arranging the awards table. A physically active role.
- Tear-down Team: Assists in tearing down all rooms after completion of the competition. This includes gathering up, sorting, and packing items and helping to carry materials out of the hotel and load the storage unit. An active but short shift.
- Dais Runner: Fetches drinks, coffee, and food for the officials on the dais. A low-effort role that requires being on call during mealtimes.
- Chauffeur: Requires a vehicle; completes airport runs to pick up or drop off officials before and after the competition. Requires some coordination with organizers and officials.
- Awards Announcer: Announces awards when run outside of the main ballroom or to give the MC a break during awards
- Awards Assistant: Prepares awards to give out to competitors, makes sure awards tables are stocked, presents awards to competitors
For every two hours worked, volunteers will receive a session spectator ticket or a free dance entry
